Buildings require massive amounts of capital, labor, and material investment. Meanwhile, the world changes rapidly and unpredictably. How might multiple programs be deployed in the same building at different times?



Eight towers are connected on the top floors. Drawridges create re-configurable continuties between towers so that depending on the programmatic needs, the building can operate as anything between one megatower and eight separate buildings. The three programs being test-fitted are: fulfillment center, art museum, and community center/housing. (The last program is conceived of as an alternative to managed retreat.) As a fulfillment center, the building operates vertically in order to utilize real estate efficiently. The building serves as infrastructure for expansion in the form of the museum. And in the case of climate change driven retreat, the building becomes an ultra-dense village for communities who cannot relocate.
